The purpose of this blog post is to provide the guidance and the steps needed to install Veeam Backup & Replication (12.0.0.1420) on Windows Server 2022 Standard. Please keep in mind, upgrades from any previous builds is not supported. Only clean installs are permitted.

The installation was a clean install (not an upgrade from a previous version) in my home lab environment. To begin the process, you must first download the ISO, mount the image, and then select Open to view the folders and files found on the mounted image.

Next is the installation process which includes the VBR12 installation options. In this example, I invoked the Setup command, selected Install for VBR12, and accepted the License Agreement.

If you don’t have a license, please select Next to proceed with the installation of the Community Edition.

The following options are based on your preference including the type of database engine, but I went with the defaults since this for home lab purposes and testing.

On the final screen, you can review the settings previously selected. If you decide a change if required, please select Back.

The installation process begins.

Below is confirmation the installation was a success.

Thank you to everyone at Veeam, the Veaam Vanguard Program and the #vCommunity for your support, including the opportunity to share my experience with you.
